Watford of England are bound to lose one of their many Nigerian players, as Tom Dele-Bashiru is reportedly edging closer to a deal with lower division side, Reading, megasportsarena.com reports.
The former Flying Eagles and Olympic Eagles’ lad is ready to make the switch due to his inability to tie down a regular spot with Watford, since arriving at Vicarage Road three seasons ago, such that tying out in the English Championship could be a better option for him.
Reading, who have a long tradition of Nigerian players in their squad, most recent of which are Omatsone ‘Sone’ Aluko, Ovie Ejaria, Femi Azeez and Michael Olise, are now reportedly on the verge of announcing the signing of Dele-Bashiru.
However, it is set to be only a temporary deal, as a report by Watford Observer revealed that Dele-Bashiru, who starred for Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, is set to join The Royals on a season-long loan agreement between both clubs.
The report adds that Dele-Bashiru will be confirmed by Reading subject to a routine medical, but the agreement does not come with an option for The Royals to buy him outright from The Hornets at the end of the new season.
Dele-Bashiru’s fortunes at Vicarage Road were adversely affected by a long-term injury that required surgery, as he copped an anterior cruciate ligament complaint in a Championship clash on October 3 against the same club that are now angling for his signature.
