Super Eagles Will Prepare Harder To Overcome Ghana In March – Pinnick

The president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Melvin Amaju Pinnick has consoled the country’s fans and urged them to turn their focus on the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers, ahead of which he promised that the Super Eagles will prepare harder in order to overcome Ghana.

Megasportsarena.com reports that the Eagles will tango their eternal fellow-Anglophone West Coast rivals across two legs in March, to decide one of Africa’s five qualifiers for the Mundial that will hold at the end of this year in Qatar.

It will be the first time a Middle East country will host FIFA’s flagship competition, and Pinnick has assured Nigerian fans that the Eagles will quickly lick the wounds of their shock ouster by initially hapless Tunisia in the round of 16 at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The Carthage Eagles’ 1-0 win on Sunday night came against all permutations and forecasts, but Pinnick insists the players gave their best and decided to heap praises on them and their coach, Augustine Eguavoen.

The former Delta State Football Association and Delta State Sports Commission chairman added that the team deserves commendation, despite their loss to Tunisia.

He went on to thank all Nigerian fans as well as government officials and administrators for supporting the Eagles all the way, before and during AFCON 2021, then promised that they will get better results against Ghana.

Pinnick concluded: “We are proud of the efforts of the players. They gave their all and tried very hard to win even when they had numerical disadvantage. It was just not our day.

“I want to thank His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari for his love, support and encouragement to the team while they were in the championship.

“I also praise the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Sunday Dare for his interest and attention in the progress of the team.

“Losing at this stage is painful but we take solace in the great spirit with which the team approached its four matches in Cameroon, out of which it won three.

“The focus and attention will now shift to the FIFA World Cup qualifying play-off against Ghana in March. We want to assure Nigerians that we will prepare even harder for those two matches to get the job done.”
