The player that replaced Girondins-Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu in last weekend’s French Ligue 1 encounter with Olympique Marseille, Remy Oudin has disclosed how happy he is with the Nigerian star’s quick recovery from a dizzy spell.
Megasportsaena.com reports how Oudin admitted that he and other players in Bordeaux’s squad were scared when Kalu collapsed under no pressure just five minutes into Sunday’s game and later had to be taken off.
His words will give some comfort to fans of Kalu, who collapsed when Dimitri Payet was about to take a free-kick, but the Nigerian international got up after players from both side and medics rushed to attend to him.
The 23-year-old , who suffered a similar fate due to severe dehydration during a training session of the Super Eagles before the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt, resumed playing moments later but appeared groggy and was eventually replaced by Oudin.
Oudin went on to disclose that Kalu is fine and has already put behind him the ugly incident that occurred on the pitch of Stade Velodrome during Bordeaux’s 2-2 draw with Marseille, as the for SK Trencin of Slovakia and KAA Gent of Belgium forward received immediate medical attention.
Kalu later walked off the pitch holding an ice pack against his head and Oudin, who replaced him in the 14th minute, disclosed that the Nigerian star had only suffered a dizzy spell that left him dazed.
Oudin, who scored Bordeaux’s equaliser as they fought back from two goals down to earn a draw, recounted: “It gave us a bit of a chill and it’s still quite shocking. According to the doctor, it was just a dizzy spell.
“We’re happy for Kalu, everything is fine and that’s the most important thing. We inevitably thought about what happened with (Denmark midfielder Christian) Eriksen, the whole team and everyone was scared.”
