Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze is in danger of losing his first team spot with The Yellow Submarine, as he continues battling to regain full fitness,megasportsarena.com reports.
With the Spanish top-flight season already into full steam and Chukwueze yet to taste action for last season’s UEFA Europa League champions, the club’s coach, Unai Emery is turning to other options.
The chances of Chukwueze eventually playing himself back into Emery’s cards could jolly well be slim, following his absence again in their latest match against Chukwueze remains unavailable to Villarreal, as he sits out of his team’s La Liga opener against Granada.
The Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist and third highest scorer has been out of action since getting injured during Villarreal’s Europa League first leg semi-final fixture against Arsenal of England on May 6.
Before the injury, the product of Diamond Football Academy of Umuahia had been in top form and twinkled brilliantly while playing the game versus Arsenal, against which he almost gave his side an early lead after just four minutes.
He ended copping a knock during that game and was ruled out of the second leg as well as the final, in which The Yellow Submarine beat Manchester United of England and gave Emery his fourth conquest of the second tier-European continental clubs’ competition.
However, despite recently returning to personal training, the 22-year-old Chukwueze has not been able to get back into match action with his side, which saw him miss Villarreal’s squads for their UEFA Super Cup fixture versus Chelsea and the start of the domestic LaLiga season.
In Chukwueze’s absence, Emery opted to start new signing Boulaye Dia alongside Gerard Moreno and Yeremi Pino as his front three for the clash with Chelsea, thereby serving up a strong hint that the Super Eagles’ dazzler will have to work extra hard in order to get his place back in the starting 11.
