Super Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr as expressed worries over the star players Liberia will present during Friday’s World Cup qualifier, especially those based in Czech Republic, Switzerland and Malaysia, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although Rohr affirmed that he has given his players the best tips he believes should see them through to victory at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos, the Franco-German tactician admitted that they cannot afford to underrate their visitors.
With that in mind, he went on to name check some of the opposing players the Eagles should watch out for during the encounter, which will kick-start their quest to pick a ticket to next year’s World Cup in Qatar.
Analysts are already reeling out statistics of matches between both countries but, while the odds and figures weigh heavily to Nigeria’s advantage, Rohr insisted that the Liberians have good players with ‘big clubs.’
He added that The Lone Star have collectively enjoyed good preparations for Friday’s match, hence his verdict that they must not be underrated, especially based on facts in a report submitted by one of his scouts, Nabil Trabelsi.
The Eagles’ gaffer revealed that the Tunisian ex-international watched the Liberians play versus his country twice in friendlies as well as against Algeria in June, with a view that he now has a lot of ideas and enough information on how to contain the visitors in Friday’s Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier.
Rohr concluded: “They are a good team with some of their players at big clubs like Slavia Praha, in Switzerland and a centre-forward, who plays in Malaysia.”
