Potters Agree Terms With Aris For Etebo Oghenekaro

Stoke City have reportedly ‘agreed terms’ with Greek giants Aris Thessaloniki to sign Oghenekaro Peter Etebo, Megasportsarena.com reports.

Etebo has spent the last two-and-a-half years out on loan away from the Potters and has not played for the club since September 2019.

He was first loaned to Spanish side Getafe in January 2020 for the second half of that season, but the La Liga outfit opted against activating an option to make the move permanent.

Galatasaray was the midfielder’s next destination, making just shy of 30 appearances for the Turkish giants, who finished runners-up to Besiktas in the Super Lig that campaign.

A permanent exit again did not happen and a surprise switch to newly promoted Watford in the Premier League followed last season, but a four-month long knee injury limited Etebo to just ten appearances for the Hornets.

Since returning to Stoke this summer, the 26 year-old hasn’t featured at all, and his future has remained in flux.

Reports in Greece suggest that an agreement has been reached with Aris for the player’s ‘acquisition’. It is also added that negotiations between them and Etebo are in the ‘final stages’.

The 44-cap Nigeria international has less than 12 months remaining on his contract at the bet365 Stadium. Greece’s transfer window remains open for another ten days until September 15.
