Slavia Prague of Czech Republic winger, Peter Olayinka has reacted with delight to his reaction to the Super Eagles’ camp ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, and described it as a dream come true for him, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although his inclusion in the Nigerian roster came belatedly and due to the withdrawal of Watford of England attacker, Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis, Olayinka said he does not feel slighted about being initially overlooked.
Rather than snub the offer to step in as an alternative player to in-form Dennis, Olayinka said he is happy with his inclusion in Nigeria’s final squad list of 28 players and declared that hge is already looking forward to making his mark at AFCON 2021.
He added that he cannot wait to hit the ground running and play for the first time at the African soccer showpiece, even as he aims to impress Eagles’ acting coach, Augustine Eguavoen and show during training that he deserves a place in the starting 11.
Prior to his belated call-up, Olayinka was due to fly with the Slavia Prague squad to Algarve for a training camp from 5 to 24 January, but his side will play their first competitive game of 2022 on the 5th or 6th February against MFK Karviná,
The 26-year-old product of 36 Lion FC of Lagos, who has six goals and two assists in 21 matches this season, including seven in European competition, told Slavia’s website: “I’m really excited, it’s a dream come true for me. I’m really looking forward to the tournament; I can’t wait to give it my all.”
