SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen has taken a swipe at AC Milan’s Nigerian-born defender, Fikayo Tomori for a foul on him last weekend, then faulted video assistant referee (VAR) for overlooking it, megasportsarena.com reports.
However, while casting his mind back to what he believed were two key decisions that could have given Napoli victory against Milan last time out, he has now turned his focus fully on Sunday’s clash with Chievo Verona.
The former Ultimate Strikers of Lagos, VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Sporting Charleroi of Belgium and Lille Metropole of France hitman added that he wants to make amends personally and collective against Verona.
Heading into The Neapolitans’ battle with The Flying Donkeys, the Super Eagles star added that he is also hoping for flawless refereeing decisions, though his side will be playing away from home.
Osimhen told Radio Kiss Kiss: “Losing to Milan was a blow to us but we’re keen to bounce back and make amends.
“The most important thing is that we dust ourselves down and get back to winning ways.
“We’re really sorry for having let people down on Sunday but we’re aware of how good we are.
“We’ll fight to win the title until the last moment and we want to get back to winning ways.
“There’s still a long way to go. We believe in ourselves, as should our fans. They give us so much strength.
“As for a possible penalty in the Milan game, Fikayo Tomori made a clear foul; I was heading to goal and he caught me. I was hoping VAR could’ve intervened.
“We’ve now got to think about Sunday. Verona are a good team, on good form and it’ll be a tough game playing in front of their fans. We’ll give our all in pursuit of a win.”
