Osimhen Expected Back In Italy, After Testing Negative To Coronavirus

SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen is expected back at the base of his Italian Serie A club at the start of this week, following a negative result he achieved in his latest covid-19 test, megasportsarena.com reports.

In contrast with the whirl of controversy that visited the report about his positive covid-19 test and immediate self-isolation late December, the Italian club have now confirmed that Osimhen is expected to return to their base in the city of Naples.

The 23-year-old Osimhen was forced to withdraw from Nigeria’s squad to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations due to a combination of health issues and non-release by Napoli, following which he was replaced in the squad list by Henry Onyekuru.

That has, however, now become past tense, as he is expected to undergo tests with Professor Tartaro upon his return to Napoli, as he eventually goes for the last check-up that had originally been scheduled to take place on December 31 but he was forced to quarantine due to the infection by coronavirus.

That was a double blow for the former Ultimate Striker of Lagos, VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Sporting Charleroi of Belgium and Lille Metropole of France hitman, who has been inactive since November 21, when he suffered a fractured his cheekbone in action against Inter Milan.

Osimhen, who has now been declared negative for Covid-19 ten days after news emerged that he tested positive, would be happy to read the verdict from Napoli, whose media unit disclosed: “Victor is negative to Covid-19 and will return to Italy in the coming hours.”
