Racing Genk of Belgium striker, Paul Ebere Onuachu could become the player with the highest transfer fee ever in the multi-lingual European country, as his club have fixed a hefty price of 30 million euro on his signature, megasportsarena.com reports.
Information on offer from Belgium reveals that interest from Brighton, Leicester City, West Ham United and a couple of other clubs in the English Premier League has encouraged Genk to seek a huge pay day on the league’s top scorer of the past season.
Consequently, Belgian newspaper, Het Nieuwsblad via voetbalnieuws has revealed that Genk’s technical director, Dimitri de Condé will demand at least €30m for Onuachu, which is contrary to earlier reports that they are willing to accept between €20m and €25m for the tall attacker.
Selling Onuachu for €30m would make him become the most expensive player in history sold by a Belgian club, as that would be three million euro more than KAA Gent got for Jonathan David; but the problem is if any of the suitors would be able to afford that amount.
The report adds that, though West Ham and Brighton are interested in the former Young Stars of Lagos, FC Ebedie of Shagamu and FC Midtjylland of Denmark ace, they are both hesitating on putting forward an official bid.
While suspense lingers over the matter, the 27-year-old Onuachu has reported for pre-season training at Genk and he was named in the starting line-up for their 1-1 draw with AZ Alkmaar of Netherlands, with his Nigerian compatriot, Cyriel Dessers opening scoring in the 78th minute but Thijs Oosting equalized in the 90th.
