FC Nantes winger Moses Simon continues to attract interest ahead of the summer transfer window and Olympique Marseilles are the latest to be named, Megasportarena.com reports.
Marseilles once had another Nigerian Taye Taiwo in their fold and the defender was a fans’ favourite during his time with the club side.
Moses Simon, who has tremendously improved for Ligue 1’s surprise package this season has a £40m price tag on his head.
While Leeds United and Newcastle were keen on the player in January, the Premier League pair maintain their interest and could make a move at the end of the season.
Newcastle will have to compete with Ligue 1 sides, where Marseilles lead the charge, for the player’s signature too. Simon’s contract with Nantes runs to 2024.
Discussions is understood to have started between Newcastle and the player’s entourage and a first salary proposal has been made.
Marseilles, meanwhile, are also eager to have the lightning paced winger in their fold next season.
