New signing SonderjyskE of Denmark, Eddy Ogenyi Onazi has declared that he has a burning ambition to create a huge impact with the Danish Superliga, following his arrival as a free agent after leaving Denizlispor of Turkey earlier this summer, megasportsarena.com reports.
Onazi said he was thrilled that he was able to seal the deal with SonderjyskE on a contract that is bound to extend into three years, running until the end of the 2022/23 season, and he links forces with former FC Midtjylland winger, Rilwan Hassan.
The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner and two-time World Cup star, at Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018, had initially been linked with clubs in Italy and Serbia, but he opted instead for the deal at SonderjyskE after terminating his contract with Denizlispor due to unpaid wages.
Before joining Denizlispor in January 2020, Onazi was at Trabzonspor for three and half seasons and the ex-Super Eagles’ assistant captain, who has 26 appearances in European competitions – 24 in the Europa League and two in UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
SonderjyskE revealed, though, that Eddy has for now only signed a contract that will run for the rest of the current season, but they have an option to give him an extension that could take him to two more seasons.
Soon after an official confirmation of the deal brokered by a Nigerian agent, Rotimi Fernandez Dawodu, the former SS Lazio of Italy and Trabzonpsor of Turkey midfielder was handed jersey number eight with Danish Cup winners following successful medicals; and he quickly declared how delighted he is with the deal and promised to put in his best for the team.
Onazi said: “I am very happy to have signed here in SønderjyskE, and I am grateful that the club has given me this opportunity. I hope I can make a difference and my ambition is to help the team finish as high as possible in the table.
“I am a player who likes to take responsibility and work hard for things, and I will do the same here in SønderjyskE. I am very dedicated to this task and I look forward to playing for the club.”
