Manchester United of England striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has found a sensational link with Paris-Saint Germaine of France coming his way, with a hint that he could become the next Nigerian player – after Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, Godwin Okpara and Bartholomew Ogbeche – to star for the French Ligue 1 champions.
Although the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer, who also captained Nigeria’s youth squad, Flying Eagles to Egypt 209 FIFA U-20 World Cup, is only in an extended loan spell at Old Trafford from Shanghai Shenhua of China and is expected to rejoin his parent club in January, the latest report indicates that he could be tempted to join PSG instead.
In what could be seen as the most astonishing report of the current summer transfer spree, megasportsarena.com further gathered that the French champions are highly interested in signing Ighalo before the end of his current deal with The Red Devils.
Details of the report by German transfer market website, Fussballtransfers even revealed that PSG have already made a number of initial contacts with Ighalo’s representatives over a deal with the former Super Eagles star, who initially joined United in January transfer, before the deal was extended at the end of May, keeping him at the Old Trafford outfit until early 2021.
An additional report by French transfer market website, Foot Mercato affirmed that Ighalo is one of the strikers on PSG’s shortlist for this summer’s wheeling and dealing as they believe the veteran top striker is an ideal replacement for Edinson Cavani, who left at the end of this season
It is now left to be seen if The Parisians will be able to snatch the ex-Prime FC of Osogbo, Julius Berger FC of Lagos, Udinese of Italy, Granada of Spain, Watford of England and Changchun Yatai of China hitman, who has scored five goals in 18 games since joining United and has a contract running with Shenhua until December 2021.
Oriental Times added: “PSG Sporting Director Leonardo has drawn up a shortlist of possible targets and will even explore the possibility of signing Cristiano Ronaldo amid rumours Juventus are looking to get him off their wage bill.
“The French champions splashed out £52million to sign Mauro Icardi on a permanent basis earlier this summer but are looking for another attacking player to provide competition. Ighalo fits that mould and would be a much cheaper option than some of PSG’s other targets.”
