Newcastle United have been linked with a few left-footed young center-halves in recent weeks, and have also been checking out Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo, who was heavily linked last summer, Megasportsarena.com understands.
The 24-year-old Nigerian-born defender helped The Cottager’s return to the Premier League on the first time of asking.
Fulham has had a dominant season in The Championship with a goal difference of 60. They have essentially wrapped up The Championship title with two matches left to play.
Former Magpie Aleksandar Mitrovic provided 41 league goals while Adaribioyo was part of an excellent defense. Both were named in The Championship Team of the Season along with teammates Antonee Robinson and Harry Wilson, Newcastle targets from years past.
While Adarabioyo has just one year left on his contract, Fulham hold an option to extend him to 2024. They will almost certainly do that as their return to England’s top-flight strengthens their bid to hold off any potential pursuers.
Newcastle have long been admirers of the former England U19 international stretching back to his days with Manchester City’s Academy. There was no money available last summer despite him having a low relegation release clause.
Fulham’s promotion, along with their option to extend him, complicates a move this summer. Though Newcastle are a much different proposition for the young defender than in the past.
Fulham are confident they will keep hold of defender Tosin Adarabioyo this summer after securing promotion to the Premier League.
Adarabioyo has been scouted by Premier League clubs including Newcastle while playing in the Championship this season.
Fulham had been fearful they could lose the 24-year-old this summer if big bids came in and they had failed to seal an instant return to the top-flight.
