Moses Simon: We Have To Give 100% Effort Against Sudan On Saturday

FC Nantes of France winger, Moses Simon is still basking in the euphoria of his sterling performance against Egypt in Nigeria’s first match of this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, but admitted that he and his teammates in the Super Eagles must give 100% effort in their next game versus Sudan.

Speaking about his plans for Saturday’s match in Garoua, Cameroon, the former SK Trencin of Slovakia, KAA Gent of Belgium and Levante of Spain dazzler acknowledged that there is a tendency for the Eagles to get carried away with their shock win over Egypt.

Megasportsarena.com, however, reports that Simon went on to declare emphatically that all the players will not rest on their oars against the 1972 champions, as they aim to get their second straight win in the competition and cruise into the knock-out stage.

With that target already hot on his mind, Simon promised to personally put in his very best on Saturday and enthused that all his teammates will also step up their performances in order to get all three points at stake.

While praising the Eagles’ technical crew, led by interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen for making victory possible against Egypt, Simon remained cautious while speaking about the team sealing qualification to the last 16 with a game to spare if they defeat Sudan on Saturday.

Simon, who was unlucky not to open the scoring when he hit side-netting in the 26th minute of Tuesday’s match, submitted: “The game against Sudan is something we need to be careful with because now in Africa there is no small team.

“So, we need to face them the way we played against Egypt. We have to do our best and give one hundred percent to have the three points.

“I’d say all thanks to the technical staff, the coach for giving the team the confidence to play. Of course it’s all about the team spirit so it’s not an individual process.”
