Megasportsarena.com reports that the Kaduna-born former SK Trencin of Slovakia, KAA Gent of Belgium and Levante of Spain dazzler has been talk of the town since he emerged as Nigeria’s standout player in the Super Eagles’ 1-0 victory over Egypt on Tuesday.

Although he missed being named official man of the match, which went to lone goal scorer, Kelechi Iheanacho, many fans and analysts gave plaudits to Simon and the Golden Boot Soccer Academy product could be on his way to England in the summer transfer window.

This comes amidst reports that he had been offered to Newcastle United, Southampton, Brighton and Liverpool in previous transfer windows, but they all passed up the opportunity to sign him.

However, the dark-skinned diminutive winger, whose current contract with Nantes runs out at the end of the 2023-24 season, has seen his stock rise in recent months following a string of fine displays for club and country.

He had already scored two goals and provided six assists for Nantes in 18 French Ligue 1 games before reporting for international duty, which has now blossomed in to sweet trappings for him, as he was on Friday selected as the player to speak on behalf of the Eagles ahead of Saturday’s game with Sudan.

Simon spoke alongside Eagles’ interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen at the pre-match press conference that began at 11:30am, as they fielded questions from journalists ahead of Saturday’s match, which would see the three-time African champions qualify for the last 16 with a game to spare if they win.
