The Nigerian-born duo of Miguel Azeez and Bukayo Saka have their eyes set on two prestigious individual awards at The Gunners, as nominees have emerged for the club’s bet goal and star player of the past month, megasportsarena.com reports.
While Saka is in the running for Arsenal Player of The Month for October, Azeez, who was born in Spain to a Nigerian father, has been nominated for the best goal scored by any player of the club within the same period in review.
Saka faces competition from Hector Bellerin, Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel to be named The Gunners’ best player of the past month, while Azeez’s brilliant strike after 54 minutes in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Crawley Town in the EFL Trophy is in a ten-goal shortlist for Goal of the Month.
Azeez’s goal has been nominated alongside strikes from Pepe and Vivianne Miedema who have both been doubled nominated, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Jordan Nobbs, Caitlin Foord, Katie McCabe and Luke Plange.
The highly-rated teenager fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the box, scoring what proved to be the winning goal in the process and his first at U21 level for Arsenal.
The 18-year-old has been tipped to make his first team debut this season and this could come sooner rather than later with Arsenal on the verge of qualifying for the knockout rounds of the Europa League.
