Nigerian-born French youth international, Michael Olise has pulled off a sensational summer switch that will see him play under former France international, Patrick Vieira at Crystal Palace of England.
Megasportsarena.com reports that Olise makes the move to Selhurst Park barely 72 hours after Vieira, former Arsenal captain, was unveiled as The Eagles’ new coach for the upcoming season.
Consequently, Olise is Palace’s first signing under Vieira and he has already taken up jersey number seven with the London-based club, who also have fellow-Nigerian-born dazzler, Eberechi Eze on their cards.
He also returns to London more than five years after he Palace’s local rivals, Chelsea, where he was a schoolboy prior to joining the youth sector at Manchester City, as the dreadlocks-wearing English Football League Young Player of the Season has ended his association with Reading by inking a multi-year contract with The Eagles.
The dashing lad’s latest deal will run until the end of the 2025/26 campaign ahead of which the attacking midfielder, who got seven goals and 12 assists in 44 Championship games, admitted he is eager to hit the ground running under Vieira.
Olise told Palace TV: “I had a conversation with the manager and he was talking about how he sees me in the team: the plans, the development and the vision for the club. It’s very good. So, I thought it was a good fit.
“It’s a big moment: Premier League football. The Premier League is known to be the top league in the world, so it’s definitely going to be a lot tougher. But nothing that I’m not ready for.”
