Reading of England youngster, Michael Olise is attracting summer transfer interest from Arsenal, Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers, as all three English Premier League clubs are said to be monitoring his progress and development, megasportsarena.com gathered.
However, Olise is not in any rush to make his choice, as all three clubs have strengthened their squads to very large extents, as they bid to stand out this season in the English Premier League this season, and the youngster knows his could be lost in a labyrinth of stars anywhere he goes.
A report by Football League World confirmed that Olise is giving a lot of thought about his future, as the 18-year-old is careful not to jump into a wrong move, despite him having already impressed all three clubs with his sterling performances in the English Championship.
The playmaker already has 29 appearances for The Royals’ first team, 24 of which have come in the league and, with just two years remaining on his contract, Reading know they stand to lose the youngster as a free agent if they do not cash in on his current form, unless they can convince him to sign with them for the long term.
Born 12 December 2001, Michael Akpovie Olise is registered as a French professional footballer and member of the French under-18 national team, but the young midfielder, who in July 2018 was inducted onto Reading’s academy scholarship programme and made his debut on 12 March 2019 in a 3-0 home defeat by Leeds United, is still eligible for a switch to Nigeria.
On 15 July 2019, Olise signed a three-year professional contract with Reading and scored his first league goal at Madejski Stadium last weekend, as he volleyed home in the 76th minute of a 2-0 victory over Barnsley; which marked the beginning of a promising surge for the youngster, who is now generating a massive buzz in the transfer window.
With three top clubs now already putting heat on the lower division outfit, speculation is high that Reading may be wont to go for the cash immediately and ensure they get a hefty fee on the Nigerian-born French youth international’s signature while the buzz is still on and hot around him.
A report by The Sun added: “18-year-old midfielder Olise is the subject of interest from Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, as well as a number of other Premier League clubs. The Frenchman has made a bright start to this season.
“(He scored) in The Royals’ last game against Barnsley to help fire Reading to the top of the Championship table. Arsenal would face competition from the likes of Wolves and Leeds for the signature of Olise, who has been part of the Reading set up since 2016.”
Olise was also beaming with delight after he scored his first goal as a professional in Reading’s 2-0 win against Barnsley on Saturday at Madejski Stadium, where the 18-year-old ld fired home a a volley from 25 yards out to give The Royals a 2-0 lead with 14 minutes left on the clock.
The left-footed midfielder, who had been in action for 1,901 minutes spread across 30 matches in all competitions before scoring his first goal for Reading, reeled out details of how his sizzler became possible, even as he admitted he is already thinking of getter better ones as the days, weeks, months and years go by.
Olise stated: “It dropped to the edge of the box…I thought I might have a go, get a shot off. And luckily it went in. It was a good team performance though – we dug in, we worked hard and got the result. It’s been a good start in the league and as a group we’re happy.
“We’ve had four games now – we were unlucky against Luton in the cup but we’ve got back-to-back wins in the league. But we’re just going to keep playing and see where we can go. Two wins from two is good momentum going into the next couple.”
