Maja Expected To Provide ‘Different Dimension’ To Stoke’s Attacking Options

The lid has been blown off factors that led to the decision by Stoke City of England to sign former Super Eagles’ invitee, Josh Maja on loan from Girondins-Bordeaux of France, the biggest of which is that he will prove a new dimension to the club’s attacking options.

Megasportsarena.com reports that this much has been revealed by The Potters’ coach, Michael O’Neil, who admitted he is delighted to have Maja in his squad, even as he maintains their uncanny links with Nigerian players.

Before now, Nigerian players who have starred for Stoke include Shola Ameobi, Seyi George Olofinjana, Peter Osaze Odemwingie, Victor Moses, John Mikel Obi and Peter Oghenekaro Etebo.

Maja now becomes the latest addition to that roll call, as Stoke formally announced that they had completed his signing and disclosed that he will spend the remainder of the season on loan at the English Championship outfit.

Although Maja only recently returned to fitness after missing the first four months of the current campaign due to a back injury, he becomes Stoke’s fifth signing of the January transfer window, after Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Phil Jagielka, Lewis Baker and Jaden Philogene-Bidace.

The Potters’ gaffer went on to reveal what he is already expecting from Maja, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham, with which he played 15 matches in the English Premier League and got three goals to his name.

O’Neill said: “Josh will bring a different dimension to our attacking options and I’m really pleased that we’ve held off competition from a number of other clubs to secure him.”
