The secretary-general of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expressed profound excitement over what he called ‘the record-time approval’ granted by world soccer governing body, FIFA, for the change of national team allegiance sought by Leicester City of England winger, Ademola Lookman.

The former Everton of Fulham of England as well as ex-RB Leipzig of Germany dazzler has played for England at youth team levels and, though, initial talk about him playing for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon did not materialize, Sanusi says the clearance came early.

The NFF scribe went on to reveal that the formal application for Lookman’s change of nationality was submitted with the international football body on Wednesday, hence his declaration that it was quite early getting the confirmation just 24 hours later.

Megasportsarena.com reports further that such it was that Sanusi stated on behalf of the NFF that everyone at the Nigerian football body is happy to finally receive a positive verdict from FIFA on Lookman to play for the Super Eagles at senior international level.

He expatiated that the approval for Look an to switch from The Three Lions to The Super Eagles was granted after a fresh application was made by the NFF with regards to Lookman’s desire to wear the green-and-white jersey of his father’s country.

The reaction came after FIFA’s chief legal and compliance officer, Emilio Garcia Silveiro contacted the NFF about the decision reached by the Single Judge of the Status Chamber of the Football Tribunal to grant Lookman’s appeal.

Silveiro stated: “The request made by the NFF – Nigeria Football Federation for a change of association of the player Ademola Olajide Lookman is accepted.

“The player Ademola Olajide Lookman is eligible to play for the representative teams of the NFF – Nigeria Football Federation with immediate effect.”

Sanusi declared in his response: “We sent in the application on Wednesday night after putting all the necessary documentation together. We are happy to receive the approval.”
