The ancient city of Ibadan is set to host over 300 competitors at this year’s National Judo Open Championship, which has been styled as ‘the revival of judo,’ as it comes after a long drought of activity on the domestic front in the sport.
Megasportsarena.com reports that the championship is now scheduled to hold from 15th to 20th July, with competitors drawn from all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory as well as the military and paramilitary services.
Though the championship is sanctioned by Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF), it will be sponsored by a former vice-president of the body, Dr. Musa Oshodi, who is currently the chairman of Oyo State Judo Association.
Oshodi disclosed that everything had been put in place for a memorable experience for all the competitors, coaches, officials, referees and fans, even as the schedule of events revealed that a refresher course for stakeholders will run for the first two days before the competition begins.
