Heartbreak for Aribo, Bassey & Balogun As Glasgow Rangers Lose Europa League Final To Frankfurt

Joe Aribo, Calvin Bassey and Leon Balogun’s hopes of Europa League glory were ended by Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night in Seville following a 5-4 penalty shootout loss in the final, after full time score stood at 1-1.

Megasportsarena.com reports that Nigerian duo Aribo and Bassey started the game and were fantastic all through with Bassey playing for the duration and Aribo substituted in the first half extra time of the match. Balogun was an unused substitute.

Nigerian midfielder Joe Aribo sent Glasgow Rangers into dreamland in the 57th minute when his shot crept over the line to open the scoring at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.

Rafael Santos Borre stabbed home the equaliser for Frankfurt 12 minutes later after a mistake from Connor Goldson, sending the match into extra-time.

Both sides passed up opportunities in the extra 30 minutes before substitute Aaron Ramsey missed his spot-kick and the German side converted all of theirs as the Ibrox side fell short, just as they did in 2008.
