Super Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr has declared that he wants all home-based players that have been invited to the national team’s camp to ensure they perform as a collective group in next Saturday’s international friendly against Mexico.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, although 22 of the 25 invited players are getting invitations to the Eagles for the first time ever, Rohr is of a view that they would al be able to blend together within the short time of training available to them in Abuja.
He enthused as much after watching the team’s first training session under the eyes of the stand-in coach, Augustine Eguavoen, who has been saddled with the responsibility of handling the squad for the July 3 game in Los Angeles, USA.
The Franco-German gaffer admitted that the task ahead of them is not a mean one, but reckoned that all the players in camp would be able to justify their invitations by working hard in training and eventually do the nation proud next Saturday.
Rohr added after watching the training session at FIFA Goal Project in Abuja: “I’m happy to see a good training session, some of you were already with me, I think two other boys will join you.
“I see that you are already fit physically and so very good training session. You have the privilege to go to the United States which is a wonderful journey and a wonderful game to play against Mexico.
“So, I’m here to see you, to help you, to speak with your staff. What we want to see is collective football not to do one-man show (but) playing for the team. I wish you good camping.”
