Nigeria’s female cadet national team, Flamingos opened camp in Abuja on Sunday, to commence training towards their battles with Egypt in the qualifiers for this year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that, ahead of the April 17th clash with the Egyptians at Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, Flamingos’ head coach, Bankole Olowookere has invited 25 players to camp.
Bankole included Goalkeepers Faith Omilana and Linda Jiwuaka, defenders Blessing Sunday, Comfort Folorunsho, Tumininu Adeshina and Miracle Usani in his list of 25.
Also included are midfielders Blessing Emmanuel, Taiwo Afolabi and Aminat Bello, and forwards Alvine Dah-Zossu, Anastasia Atume and Opeyemi Ajakaiye, with all invitees instructed to report at Serob Legacy Hotel in Abuja for resumption of camping.
The coach will hope that his girls get a good result in the first leg of their India 2022 third round qualification fixture against the Egyptians, as both sides would then face-off for the reverse fixture in Cairo on Saturday, 30th April.
To reach this stage, the Flamingos trounced Democratic Republic of Congo 8-0 on aggregate, 3-0 in Kinshasa and 5-0 in Benin City, where two goals by Opeyemi Ajakaiye as well as one each from Tumininu Adeshina, Anastasia Atume and Taiwo Afolabi accounted for the win on March 19th.
