Four Nigerian players have been cited in the latest reel of statistics published by CIES Football Observatory, with CSKA Moscow of Russia winger, Chidera Ejuke and Glasgow Rangers of Scotland left-back, Calvin Bassey leading the roll call, megasportsarena.com reports.
Former Golden Eaglets’ wonder boy, Rabiu Ibrahim, who now plays for SK Slovan Bratislava in Slovakia and Spartak Trnava winger, Yusuf Bamidele are also cited in the weekly data collated by CIES experts, to determine best outfield players so far this season in 32 European leagues.
Ejuke is ranked highest in the shooter infiltrator category for the Russian Premier League, while Ibrahim gets the best filter playmaker spot in Slovakia and Bamidele takes the all-round target man prize.
In similar vein, Bassey is the Scottish Premiership’s best air blocker playmaker, due to his ability to play the ball out from the back.
It is another leap forward for Bassey, who has featured in The Gers’ starting rosters under two different coaches this season – Steven Gerrard and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The former Leicester City of England youth team player, who has made 26 appearances in the Scottish top-flight – all of which he started – got his Eagles debut off the bench against Ghana in Kumasi before he was handed his starting debut in the second leg in Abuja.
All four Nigerian players will now fancy their chances of better deals in the coming days, following their placements in the data that saw several players classified into 15 technical profiles.
Ejuke, Bassey, Ibrahim, Bamidele and all the other players were duly ranked according to their performance level with respect to both teammates and opponents, their playing time, as well as squad and league strength.
