Eagles Must Show Commitment For Fourth Continental Title – Olajire

The Super Eagles have been charged to show total commitment and ambition for a fourth continental title when they compete next moth at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, megasportsarena.com reports.

This fiat is coming from the spokesman of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ademola Olajire, who singled out SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen for showing a high level of patriotism and commitment to the Eagles’ mission to AFCON 2022.

The NFF’s communications director stressed that it was a heroic move by Osimhen to travel out of Italy early enough to meet the start of camping for the Eagles, though he had been cast as a big doubt for the tournament after picking up a serious facial injury in November.

Osimhen was, however, included in the Eagles’ final list of 28 players after he declared himself fit to play in Cameroon and flew out of Italy on Monday, few weeks after he had surgery on his broken cheekbone and fractured eye socket.

The striker’s bold move has now been cited as a good example of what the NFF expect of all players included in Nigeria’s squad to the impending AFCON in their eastern neighboring nation, even as he enthused that all the lads know what is at stake.

Olajire told BBC Sport Africa: “The NFF is confident that our players, including Osimhen, understand the country’s desire for a fourth continental title.

“We expect Victor to join up with the rest of the squad at least by 3 of January. It is important to have all our players show same commitment and ambitious traits as displayed by Osimhen.”
