Tottenham Hotspur of England’s Nigerian-born midfielder, Bamidele (Dele) Alli has been tipped to jump at the opportunity he has to revive his career at Paris Saint-Germaine, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although the embattled England international is down in the dregs at Spurs, he has received a stunning offer from PSG, due mainly to the presence of his former gaffer, Mauricio Pochettino.
Having excelled under Pochettino during their days together at White Hart Lane, the Argentine tactician is looking the chance a reunion with Alli.
Support in that direction is also coming from PSG’s technical director, Leonardo, who has long tried to ferry Alli to Paris and, with Tottenham now ready to sell, the prospect of signing the midfielder is being revisited in talks with Pochettino.
Alli played the best football of his career under ‘Poch’ at Spurs and would jump at the chance to play for his former again, especially now that he is up for sale ahead of the January market, hence the report now suggesting that he would surely welcome a reunion with his mentor.
As if to confirm their stand on the matter, Spurs have reportedly extened their search for Alli’s replacement up to Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg is interesting Tottenham.
It was gathered further that Tottenham’s coach, Antonio Conte is a fan of the Swede, having watched his progress last season while in charge of Inter Milan.
Along with Conte, Spurs football chief, Fabio Paratici is also said to be keeping an eye on Svanberg and has been doing so for long-term ever since he was running things at Juventus.
Indeed, Paratici and Conte have discussed selling Alli and replacing him with Svanberg, whose current deal with Bologna runs to 2023.
British newspaper, Telegraph added: “Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s priority is to sell Dele Alli in January. Spurs boss Antonio Conte has consented to Alli’s departure in January.
“Levy wants a fee for the midfielder, whose last England cap came in 2019. However, a loan with an option or obligation to buy could be accepted if a buyer cannot be found.
“Conte promised he would give Alli a chance to prove he should have a more regular spot in the Tottenham side following his appointment last month (but) the former MK Dons ace has seemingly failed to impress the Italian enough.”
