The Nigerian-born duo of Daryl Dike and George Bello has made the cut for the final squad list of Team USA to this year’s CONCACAF, and both will aim to make hay while donning the colours of United States of America, megasportsarena.com reports.
Dike is back playing in USA’s Major League Soccer (MLS), after starring on loan last season in spectacular form with Barnsley of England, while Bello will try to make the best of his second invitation to the American camp.
Dike, a younger brother of former Super Eagles’ striker, Bright Dike, is registered officially Orlando City and has a single goal in three full caps for Team USA, while Bello is a left-back with Atlanta United and has one full cap for USMNT.
Bello, who has featured for USA at U15 and U17 levels, will aim to get a spot of relevance with the senior USMNT, as they prepare to play in Group B along with Canada, Martinique and either Barbados, Bermuda, Haiti or St. Vincent and Grenadines.
The United States have lifted the CONCACAF Gold Cup six times, most recently in the 2017 edition, before which they won the inaugural tournament in 1991 before being crowned regional champions again in 2002, 2005, 2007 and 2013.
As they await the identity of their last group opponents, which will emerge through the 2021 Gold Cup preliminaries, Dike and Bello will try to quickly settle down in The Yankees’ camp and stamp their feet on what would be desirable long-run spells with the USMNT.
