Feyenoord of Netherlands striker, Cyriel Dessers is relishing yet another goal for the team and declared that his biggest desire is how to be constantly important for the Dutch Eredivisie League outfit, megasportsarena.com reports.
Speaking against the backdrop of his goal that helped the team maintain their 100% run in the UEFA Europa Conference League, the former Heracles Almelo of Netherlands and Racing Genk of Belgium hitman acknowledged how other players in his club are also churning out useful roles.
He noted further that they all gave their very best and made him quite satisfied with a top-notch overall performance in a 2-1 win over Maccabi Haifa of Israel in the final group game in the third-tier European continental clubs’ competition on Thursday night.
Feyenoord ended the group stage undefeated, topping their group with 14 points after four wins and two draws, while Desser’s goal saw him hit the net in each of his last three matches of the competition, thereby increasing his tally to four.
He made the best of a rare start by the coach, Arne Slot, as the hitman on loan from Genk broke the deadlock in the 38th minute and he could have netted again in the second half, but his well-angled shot was saved by the Maccabi goalkeeper.
Dessers admitted afterwards that it was an uncanny encounter for him and his teammates, as he told Feyenoord’s official website: “It was a strange game without an audience and with a lot of changes, but I’m glad we won.
“We’ve had a lot of chances. We were a little less dominant in the second half, but I think we can be satisfied. No matter how long I play, I just want to be important to the team.”
