CSKA Moscow of Russia winger, Chidera Ejuke has gained comforting news over his bout with an injury that knocked him down during the week, megasportsarena.com reports.
Ejuke has been included in the Super Eagles’ squad for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone, with the 22-year-old for SC Hereeveen of Holland dazzler, who made his senior debut off the bench in a 1-1 draw with Tunisia earlier this month, hoping to add to his national team caps.
In spite of initial fears that he could be out for the long term and miss out of action for club and country until the New Year, CSKA’s coach, Viktor Goncharenko says Ejuke is in contention for their next Russian Premier League clash against Rotor on Sunday.
Goncharenko claims the winger is expected to be fit but the fact is that he had to be replaced in the 75th minute of the goalless draw with Dinamo Zagreb in a Europa League game on Thursday after suffering an injury.
Though Ejuke was criticized for showboating, he was one of the most active CSKA players on the pitch against the Croatian opponents in the disappointing draw, but Goncharenko has now downplayed any worries over the player’s physical condition.
Goncharenko told championat.com: “With Ejuke, everything is fine – he will be ready for the next game. We are working with Chidera, adjusting his opening. But it’s hard to work when you play every three days. Somewhere the technique fails, somewhere the rush, somewhere the goalkeeper plays successfully.”
