Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin officially confirmed the signing of Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke early Wednesday evening, reports Megasportsarena.com.
The 24-year-old moved on loan from CSKA Moscow with no option to buy, and he will play for the Blue-Whites next season in the German Charlottenburg capital city.
Like some other players making the switch to German football this year, the former CSKA Moscow player will take advantage of an UEFA legal ruling that allows him to nullify his current contract with his Russian club.
“I’m looking forward to Hertha, to the Bundesliga and this special challenge,” the player said after signing the dotted lines.
“I want to do my part to help the club achieve its goals.” He added.
“Chidera has already proven himself in several European leagues,” Hertha sporting CEO said of his new acquisition, who has also played in Norway, “He brings, technique, versatility and skills. We are convinced that he will augment our game.”
Ejuke played his football in Russia since the summer of 2020, scoring 10 goals and setting eight more up in 65 competitive appearances.
His performances got him a call up to the Super Eagles in October 2020, and the attacker has won eight caps for Nigeria since then.
Before his time in Russia, the right-footed attacker played for SC Heerenveen in the Dut h Eredivisie, with 16 goals involvements in 29 games in the 2019/20 season. He had also played in Norway between 2017 and 2019, scoring 15 goals and notching 6 assists in 69 appearances for Vålerenga Fotball.
The attacker m played for Supreme Court FC of Abuja and Gombe United before moving to Europe.
