Arsenal will reportedly step up plans to offer Bukayo Saka a new contract following Raheem Sterling’s move to Chelsea, with Manchester City eyeing the 20-year-old England star as a replacement, Megasportsarena.com understands.
The Premier League champions are said to be eyeing a move for the Arsenal superstar following Sterling’s £50m move to Chelsea earlier in the month, with the Gunners now desperate to sign Saka to a new contract which could secure the winger’s long-term future at the club.
Saka signed a contract with Arsenal in 2020 that is due to expire in three years time, however, the Premier League superstar is still one of the club’s lowest-paid players, with the Gunners keen to offer the winger a new deal that reflects his qualities and contributions to the squad.
And this is also what could push City to sign Saka, with Pep Guardiola eyeing the Hale End graduate as a replacement for Sterling in the future, with a move for the Arsenal star very unlikely this summer given how much the English champions have already spent in the market.
Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez and Kalvin Phillips have all joined City in a signing trio that could push Guardiola’s side to the Premier League title for a third year in a row as well as the UEFA Champions League title, accomplishments that could entice Saka to move should he fail to sign a new contract with Arsenal.
Indeed, the Gunners should be able to retain the attack for the next few years given his immense love for the club and the impact Saka has had since becoming Arsenal’s most important player, yet Mikel Arteta needs to work hard this summer to sign the winger down to a new deal.
