Bournemouth of England striker, Aurnaut Danjuma is set to join Samuel Chukwueze at Villarreal of Spain for a summer transfer fee of €23.5m, megasportsarena.com reports.
This is sequel to reports out of Queensland that Bournemouth have agreed terms of a switch for the former Club Brugge of Belgium Nigerian-born Netherlands youth international to make the switch.
Sky Sports also revealed that the 24-year-old striker, who scored 17 goals for The Cherries in 35 games last season, is set to complete his medical with the Europa League Champions.
Former Arsenal of England coach, Unai Emery’s side have been chasing the Dutch hit-man all summer, but they had a £13m bid for him rejected in July.
Danjuma has also been linked to Aston Villa and Southampton, but British tabloid, The Sun added that Villarreal look set to take him off of Bournemouth’s hands in a deal worth £21m until 2026.
The deal comes as no surprise considering Bournemouth’s failure to gain promotion from the Championship last season and expected their star players to depart.
It was further gathered that Chukwueze’s club also beat off competition from Liverpool to sign Danjuma, as The Reds were one of several EPL clubs interested in the attacker.
Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano disclosed further that Danjuma, who was born in Lagos to a Nigerian mother and Dutch father, has agreed terms with Villarreal over a five-year contract.
Romano added: “Bournemouth have accepted a €23.5m offer from Villarreal for the winger, who is flying to Spain for a medical.
“Danjuma has decided to make the move thanks to Villarreal’s Champions League qualification. He joined Bournemouth two years ago from Club Brugge for €16.4m.”
He also got a dramatic technical analysis from respected transfer website, LWOS, which stated: “A player of Danjuma’s calibre deserves to be playing amongst Europe’s top leagues.
“At the very least, he would have been hoping for a move to the equivalent of a mid-table side Premier League side, or, indeed, the Premier League itself.
“So, when Villarreal came calling fresh off the back of a Europa League win over Manchester United to book their place in the Champions League, it was understandably an offer the winger could not turn down.
“Villarreal have got themselves a play that ticks many boxes. He knows how to find the net, scoring 17 goals last season, is entering his prime and is a bargain at £20 million.
“In La Liga, he’ll only improve, too, potentially resulting in an unexpected meteoric rise.”
