Everton of England midfielder, Alex Iwobi could end up having Chelsea legend, Frank Lampard as his next coach at Goodison Park, megasportsarena.com reports.
Iwobi is still agonising from the penalty he received in Nigeria’s round of 16 clash with Tunisia at the Africa Cup of Nations, which accounted largely for the team’s 1-0 loss to Tunisia.
However, with the former Arsenal lad having eventually recovered from the setback and returned to activity on social media, his next line of anticipation will be over The Toffees’ next coach.
The former England youth international will be eager to see the next man step in after the sack of Rafael Benitez last week, and information out of Queensland indicates that Lampard is now the favourite to takeover at Everton.
A report by British newspaper, The Independent disclosed that Lampard is set for further talks with Everton, following the first round of discussions at the start of The Toffees’ search for a new manager.
The report added: “Fans this week expressed their feelings towards reports of Vitor Pereira’s potential appointment at Goodison Park.
“Graffiti was pictured at the stadium which stated ‘Pereira out, Lampard in.’ The former Chelsea manager is the leading contender to replace Rafa Benitez in the dugout.”
