Fatih Karagumruk of Turkey winger, Ahmed Musa has spoken out boldly in condemnation of the recent killing of 23 Muslims that were heading back home after observing pilgrimage in Bauchi.
Musa expressed disgust with what he described as ‘heinous and barbaric killings,’ then urged the federal government and security authorities to work t2waords preventing repeats of such incidents across the country.
His reaction came after news emerged that the pilgrims had been attacked at Rukuba road, in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, while returning from Bauchi in a convoy of buses.
Other Super Eagles’ players, including Kenneth Omeruo and William Troost-Ekong, shared the grief by posting broken heart emojis under a post by Musa, who scored the match-winning goal on the stroke of full-time , as his top-flight newcomers defeated Gaziantep 3-2 on Saturday.
A total of 33 victims have been rescued according to a police statement, but Musa could not hide his pain as he shared a picture of the travelers on his social media page with a prayer for peace in Jos, where he was born.
Musa wrote on Instagram: “The killings of the innocent travellers that came all the way from Bauchi State after Islamic New year Zikr heading to their various destination and got intercepted at Rukuba Road of Jos North is heinous and barbaric.
“I’m calling on the Government and relevant authorities to take measures in curtailing the future occurrence of such barbaric act.
“May their souls rest in peace and may peace reign in our dear State and Nigeria as a whole.”
