New signing at Sheffield Wednesday of England, Dennis Adeniran has declared that he has a burning ambition to create a bigger impact than he did at his former club, Everton, where he ended up toiling in their reserves, megasportsarena.com reports.
The 22-year-old midfielder, a former England under-17, -18 and -19 international, began his career at Fulham before moving to Goodison Park in 2017, but he did not play a single senior game for The Toffees, hence his determination for greater impact at his new base.
Adeniran is now eager to hit the ground running, after the English League One club confirmed his arrival on a free transfer following his release by Everton when he ran out of contract at the end of last month.
He spent last season on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, where he played 22 games, but his target is much higher this time, as he quickly joined Darren Moore’s squad for their pre-season camp in Wales and was part of the squad for Saturday’s friendly at Chester.
Adeniran was one of four Nigerian players that featured in a 2-0 win against the National League North side and he played the entire first half, while Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Korede Adedoyin and Josh Dawodu were introduced at half-time.
Adedoyin doubled The Owls’ lead in the 52nd minute, after he was found by Dele-Bashiru, but Adeniran failed to score and will have to put in a lot more effort if he is to realize his ambition of getting regular playing time at his new base this season.
It is another step forward for Adeniran, who climbed the youth ranks at Fulham and made his senior debut for the Cottagers in August 2016 in a 3-2 win over Leyton Orient, with the midfielder on target in the first half, after which he made his official debut in a Championship clash with Nottingham Forest the following month.
A report by Wednesday’s website added: An international at youth level with England Under17s, 18s and 19s, Adeniran linked up with The Owls earlier this week, taking in the latter part of our pre-season camp in Wales and now joins us ahead of the new campaign and our trip to Chester.
“After making five appearances for Everton during his breakthrough campaign, the youngster was swiftly snapped up by the Craven Cottage Premier League side Everton in August 2017. After arriving on Merseyside at just 18-years-old, Adeniran went on to feature regularly for The Toffees’ Under-21s.
“In search of regular first team football, Adeniran made a season-long loan switch from Goodison Park to Wycombe Wanderers in September 2020. The energetic midfielder made 22 appearances for Gareth Ainsworth’s side in the English Championship and FA Cup.”
