Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has been cited in the roll call of the most expensive players set to see action at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although Ndidi plays just in front of the defence line and many fans rate on levels far behind top strikers in the Nigerian squad, his valuation in the heart of record keepers and statisticians appears to be enormous.
This much has been revealed in the latest compilation by Germany-based players’ valuation portal, Transfermarkt, which named Ndidi as the only Nigerian player in their data base ahead of the tournament in Cameroon.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that the world renowned website used the current deals and market value of players named on rosters of all 24 competing countries to determine spots in the roll call.
The former Nath Boys of Lagos and Racing Genk of Belgium ace, who is valued at sixty million euro, is listed as the holding midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 formation, along with Cote d’Ivoire’s AC Milan of Italy battler, Franck Kessié.
Ndidi is joined in the roster by English Premier League rivals Mohamed Salah (Egypt/Liverpool), Sadio Mane (Senegal/Liverpool) and goalkeeper Edouard Mendy (Senegal/Chelsea), but PSG of France duo, Hakimi and Diallo are the most valuable right-back and left-back respectively.
Other outfield positions for the valuation of players heading to AFCON 2021 are taken by central defenders Koulibaly and Tapsoba, attacking midfielder Hamed Junior Traorè and center forward Youssef En-Nesyri.
The AFCON 2021 most valuable players’ squad list has a combined market package of €558m, but Ndidi rates much lower than highest placed Salah, who is named the most expensive at €100m, followed by Mane (€80m) and Hakimi (€70m).
