The current transfer market value for Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has risen to a personal all-time high of €45m, but that puts him only good enough as 10th placed on the overall data table of all other players in his sector of the pitch, megasportsarena.com gathered.
Ironically, while also remaining Nigeria’s highest earning midfielder of all time, the ex-Racing Genk of Belgium star is also good enough only for second in Africa, behind Ghana’s Atletico Madrid of Spain star, Thomas Partey, with a value of €50m.
The latest ratings also show that only nine defensive midfielders are more expensive than Ndidi, who has been ranked joint tenth along with Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria and Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira.
On the overall figures for players in various positions of play in the English Premier League, Ndidi, who cost Leicester €17.6m in 2017, is ranked joint-53rd by Transfermarkt, along with Torreira, Felipe Anderson, Sébastien Haller, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic.
Interestingly too, Ndidi is the fourth most expensive player at Leicester, behind James Maddison (€60m), Youri Tielemans (€55m) and Ben Chilwell (€50m), but he is 128th and 15th for players born in 1996.
The 23-year-old Ndidi, who currently leads the pack for the most interceptions in the EPL this season with 56 and also has the second-most tackles in England (86), with an average of 4.1 per game, is the most expensive Nigerian, ahead of Alex Iwobi (€32m), Samuel Chukwueze (€30m), Victor Osimhen (€30m) , Kelechi Iheanacho (€12m) and Dennis Bonaventure (€12m).
