SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen has taken to social media to flaunt his brand new protective face mask and used the moment to declare his availability for the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, megasportsarena.com reports.
While admitting his delight that the medical crew at Napoli was able to meet up with a promise to get him the sophisticated mask on Tuesday, at the latest, the Super Eagles’ youngster enthused that he can now confirm his readiness for the upcoming AFCON.
The former Ultimate Strikers Academy of Lagos, VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Sporting Charleroi of Belgium and Lille Metropole of France hitman admitted he will still have to fight for a spot in the Super Eagles’ final list of 28 players.
However, while raising a fist of celebration to celebrate his new mask, which he enthused will add to his confidence level in the national team’s camp, Osimhen, who had customized training on Tuesday, affirmed that he is now ready to face the task of playing for Nigeria in Cameroon.
The Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist and top scorer, who was part of the Eagles’ bronze medal winning squad last year in Egypt, declared that he is hopes to be in Cameroon because he is now 100% fit.
This comes almost a month after Osimhen was injured at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Following a clash of heads with defender Milan Skriniar, during the Parthenopeans’ 3-2 Serie A defeat by Inter Milan on November 23.
He could not complete the game and was replaced by Andrea Petagna four minutes before the hour mark and subsequently underwent surgery and reports indicated that he would be out for at least three months.
Osimhen, though, put up a spirited battle to be back earlier than diagnosed and he has now affirmed his readiness for action in Cameroon, as the 22-year-old star posted: “I will be available for Afcon at 100% unless I am not among the players picked to represent Nigeria.”
