SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen will not be back in action this weekend, despite returning to training from a scary face injury, as he is only fit enough for individuals drills for now, megasportsarena.com reports.
Expectation had been high about a speedy return to action for the Super Eagles’ youngster, after he stormed back unto the pitch earlier than expected, but he will not be available for Sunday’s home clash with Empoli in the Italian Serie A
This much has been confirmed by he media unit of the Naples-based side, which disclosed early Saturday that Osimhen was one of two key players from the squad that engaged in individual drills, while their colleagues put finishing touches to plans for Sunday’s home fixture.
The report out of Napoli’s camp added: “After the dramatic Europa League win over Leicester on Thursday, the first-team squad was back in training on Saturday morning.
“(It was the final session) ahead of the meeting with Empoli at 18:00 CET at the Stadio Maradona on Sunday in Week 17 of the 2021/22 Serie A campaign.
“The squad was split into two groups, with those heavily involved in Europa League action working in the gym, while the others focused on tactics out on the pitch.
“Fabian Ruiz and Kalidou Koulibaly had physio and worked individually in the gym. Lorenzo Insigne, Stanislav Lobotka, Victor Osimhen and Frank Anguissa had physio and trained individually on the pitch.
“Hirving Lozano underwent clinical tests with Doctor Alfredo Bucciero which came back negative. The player will be monitored over the next few days.”
