SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen may yet end up Tottenham Hotspur of England in the summer transfer window, as a report out of Queensland indicates that he has been targeted as the most ideal successor to Harry Kane.
Megasportsaerena.com reports that, although Spurs’ move for Osimhen fell flat in the winter transfer window, feelers out of London indicate that The Lilly Whites still have him top of their radar, as they prepare for the likely departure of Kane.
While Kane remains an integral part of the club’s arsenal in the English Premier League, speculation about his likely departure keeps shooting up once every transfer window opens, thereby causing trepidation about his most plausible replacement.
That has formed the basis of a report by Football Insider, which disclosed that Tottenham are planning a summer move for Osimhen after an approach for the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup top scorer was rejected by Napoli in the January transfer window.
Incidentally, Osimhen had been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham before his switch to Napoli and technical buffs at the London-based side believe that signing him could be a backup plan in the event that Kane could leave the north London club in the near future.
Tottenham, though, will have to pay heavily to get the former Ultimate Strikers of Lagos, VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Sporting Charleroi of Belgium and Lille Metropole of France star, as Napoli value him at 70 million pounds.
It is now left to be seen if Spurs will be able to snatch the back-to-form lad, who has overcome a nasty cheekbone fracture and the 23-year-old hitman played as a substitute in Napoli’s last two Italian Serie A matches in the Serie A.
That took Osimhen’s total appearances for the club to 46 matches, with a goal involvement of 24, with an escalating value for the youngster, whose 70m euros move to La Partenopei from Lille in 2020 made him the most expensive African player in history.
