Sevilla Femenino of Spain striker, Uche Kanu has issued a solemn lamentation over the missed chance she was guilty of last weekend, during her first ever match in the Spanish Primera Iberdrola, megasportsarena.com reports.
Aside knocking her out of the dramatic opportunity of making history on her debut in Spain, Kanu’s miss also meant her team could not romp back against fellow-Super Falcons’ star, Asisiat Oshoala’s Barcelona Femeni, who went on to win the encounter 3-0.
While Oshoala scored one of her team’s goals on the evening, taking her haul to 15 so far this season and marking her first year anniversary in style, Kanu was left sulking, as she failed to make hay just a week after arriving from Southeastern Tigers of USA.
Oshoala’s goal also helped her side stay top of the league, as her 55th minute goal came second in the game and boosted her side to go all out and seal three points, before she was eventually replaced two minutes later.
The Falcons’ captain struck with a timely header from an accurate cross, and could have doubled her tally in the 72nd minute, but her effort just went wide of the post, just as it was for Kanu, who missed a sitter after being introduced in the 60th minute.
Despite being on the pitch for only 30 minutes, Kanu made a lot of difference for Sevilla, giving them more bite upfront, unsettling the Barcelona defense and almost got on the score sheet but the crossbar prevented her strike from going in.
Kanu took to asocial media afterwards, as she admitted disappointment with the defeat, but took consolation from eventually getting her debut, despite the pain of failing to score, and she posted: “Although it wasn’t the result we wanted but I’m still thankful for the debut! But damn! That chance though.”
