Deportivo de La Coruña of Spain new signing, Uche Agbo has set his sight on making a quickfire debut with the team he joined on loan during the week, as they go this weekend’s clash away to Albacete in the Spanish second-tier league, megasportsarena.com gathered.
The 24-year-old Kano-born defender-cum-midfielder, who spent last season also out on loan at Sporting Braga of Portugal from Standard Liege of Belgium, will aim to hit the ground running, as he seeks to get a better run than last term, when he had only five games across all competitions.
After joining the Spanish Segunda outfit on a six-month loan deal, with an option for them to sign him permanently, the 24-year-old former Taraba United of Jalingo, JUTH of Jos, Enyimba of Aba, Udinese of Italy, Watford of England as well as ex-Granada and Rayo Vallecano of Spain ace said he now wants to get the best of his career playing for Deportivo.
The utility player, who made Nigeria’s provisional roster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, but did not make the final cut, is also hoping that his arrival can help Deportivo get a revival of their fortunes this season, as they currently stand 20th on the table after 24 matches.
Heading into his likely debut against Albacete on Sunday, Agbo, who mostly plays as a central midfielder, will also have to justify cutting short his loan spell with Braga in Portugal which was due to expire at the end of this season, as he seeks better fortune with La Coruña.
In order to make the best of his early days with the club, Agbo quickly embarked on a tour after passing his medical at HM Modelo Hospital, as he went on a familiarization check of Deportivo’s facilities at Sports City of Abegondo and ABANCA-RIAZOR Stadium.
The tour also accorded him an opportunity to watch his new teammates in action, after which the youth national team, Flying Eagles’ squad member to the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey settled down to turn his focus on the task of getting a shirt against Albacete this Sunday.
