Tomori Makes Sloemn Promise To Milan Fans

Fikayo Tomori has admitted that AC Milan cannot win every game but promises the Rossoneri will put in maximum commitment regardless of their opponents.

Milan are the Serie A table leaders with a three-point lead over Victor Osimhen’s Napoli and four points more than their city rivals Internazionale, who have a game in hand. They will face Cagliari away tomorrow and have already met all their direct rivals in the second part of the campaign.

However, they picked up draws against Udinese and Salernitana over the last month, learning that no victory is to be taken for granted.

“Simply, we can’t win all the games,” Tomori told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We try, but that’s how football is. I can tell our fans that we take every game very seriously, regardless of our opponents’ position in the table. Every opponent can be dangerous.”

Is there an opponent he fears the most?

“Inter are an excellent team, Napoli have quality and I really like Juventus and Roma. I don’t think there’s a best one, everyone has strengths and weaknesses, just like us. The table will tell who is the best, for now, it’s rewarding us and our power points.

“We have undoubtedly improved,” the former Chelsea defender continued.

“We have more experience and we learn something new every day with Pioli. We work on the mistakes that we do and this is giving us awareness. We are a great group, we play as a team. We are strong on counter-attacks and on the wings, we have a good defensive phase. We help each other and we have energy.

“We know where we are and where we want to get. It’s a decisive moment and we must always remain focused.

“We have great champions in the team. Mike Maignan won the French title with Lille last season, Olivier Giroud is a World Cup winner, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has an incredible mentality and some ex winning players are part of the staff, such as Dida and Daniele Bonera. When this group works is always very determined although we are still young.”

Pioli hung in the wall of Milanello a sheet with last season’s table printed in it. How is this motivating the team?

“The comparison with the last campaign is helping us to show that we are on the right path,” said Tomori.

“Milanello is a symbol, there are pictures of the team’s victory in the past everywhere. Milan made the history of Italian football and not only.”

Tomori, 24, has played 30 games across all competitions this season, scoring one goal. Milan made his move from Chelsea permanent one year ago after a six-month loan in the second part of 2020-21.
