Roma’s Tammy Abraham has revealed that he continues to watch the video of his goal against Leicester City and admits he’s always wanted to get his revenge on the Foxes, Megasportsarena.com reports.
Roma have qualified for their first European Final in 31 years and will face Feyenoord Rotterdam, team that parades another Nigerian, Cyriel Dessers in the Conference League Final next week. Abraham is the second-best scorer in the competition ( Dessers is top scorer) and netted the winner against Leicester City in the second leg of the Conference League semis at the beginning of May.
“Till today, I still watch the video of my header. I knew what to expect from a team like Leicester, but not many of my teammates knew,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“I’ve always wanted to beat Leicester. They beat me in the FA Cup Final, I wanted payback and that was it. I wanted to be the one to score to help my team, it’s always nice to win. Hopefully, we’ll win the Final, so I can look back on my goals and keep watching the replays.
“A Final is a Final. It could be World Cup Final, Champions League Final, or Conference League Final. When you get there, you want to win. We all want to win. We’ve had an amazing year, now we have two more finals to go. We have Torino to play and the Conference League Final. Everyone is excited, I am excited.”
Abraham joined Roma from Chelsea in a €40m deal last summer and has become the most prolific debutant at the club with 24 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions. He has netted 15 goals in Serie A, eight in the Conference League and one in Coppa Italia.
“Credit to my teammates, the staff, fans, and everybody. It’s never easy to come to a different country, a different league,” the 24-year-old said.
“They’ve made me feel like this is my home from day 1. I fell in love from day 1 and told myself, I’ll give my heart sweat blood for this club. It’s been an amazing journey. This will be one of the best experiences of my life.”
What does he expect in the Final next week?
“They are a good team, they have a striker who is one goal ahead of me, so I’ll try to change that in the final game, but they play good football. I’ve watched a few of their games. Rick Karsdorp tells me about their players.
“They are very fast, they want to score goals like us. On that day, we’ll have to be better than them. It’s going to be a good game.”
Karsdorp is a former Feyenoord player and Abraham believes it will be a unique game for him.
“For him, it’s a special moment, a club he grew up playing for. I’ve known a little bit about finals myself. This is going to be a special game. Two big clubs fighting for the trophy in this new wonderful competition.”
