Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum hopes his team will perform better than they did on Saturday morning as they face Canada in the second match of their international doubleheader against tonight in Victoria BC, Megasportsarena.com reports.
Two second half goals by Canada condemned the Falcons to a 2-0 loss to the Olympic champions in Vancouver, but coach Waldrum takes a lot of positives from the match.
“Obviously anytime you step on the field you want to get a win, you want a result but the purpose of taking on these games is for our development and our preparations for not only AFCON but the World Cup.”
He was really pleased with the overall performance of the team especially considering five or six key players aren’t in camp and it gave the opportunity for some other players.
Ahead of tonight’s game in Victoria, the coach said: “We will make some decisions on how we want to play in the second match. We will make some decisions on whether to play with the same line up, the same formation of we will tweak some things a little bit because it gives us the opportunity to experiment.”
Waldrum will lead the Super Falcons to this year’s Women’s AFCON in Morocco in July.
The WAFCON will serve as qualifiers for the 2023 women’s World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
