Former El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri striker, Suleiman Abdulahhi has set many tongues wagging at 1.FC Union Berlin of Germany, and the club’s director for professional football, Oliver Ruhnert says they are all glad to hook him in a summer transfer from Eintracht Braunschweig.
Ruhnert said the Berlin-based side will now be counting on Abdullahi to help them in their campaign back in the German Bundesliga, following their ability to hook him on a permanent basis after gaining promotion.
The 22-year-old product of Gee Lee Academy initially joined Union on loan at the beginning of last season and went on to help them reach the top division with two goals in 19 appearances.
Megasportsarena.com reports that the coach, Urs Fischer will now hope that Abdullahi hits even better form in the top-flight, after the striker signed a three-year deal that left Ruhnert and other officials at the club really excited.
Ruhnert added: “Suleiman was able to convince us with his speed and his physique. He is only 22 years old and we are sure that he will also bring his qualities to the Bundesliga and continue to develop,”
On his part, Abdullahi, whose first club in Nigeria was El-Kanemi, from which he joined Viking of Norway then Braunschweig, said he is equally excited to seal a permanent switch to Union Berlin.
Abdulahi concluded: “I’m very happy to continue playing for 1.FC Union Berlin. It was a good year for me and I’m looking forward to the new season and the Bundesliga.”
