Southampton are weighing up a move for Glasgow Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo, according to various reports in the United Kingdom.
The Premier League club had a representative at Ibrox on Saturday (18 December) to watch the Nigerian international come off the bench during his side’s 1-0 win over Dundee United.
Aribo, 25, has been scouted by Saints on a number of occasions in 2021-22, and they have gotten a number of other positive reports on him from previous domestic and European action from earlier this season.
The Rangers ace has been one of the club’s best performers this season, and it is not a surprise that another club from the English top-flight want him.
Southampton are looking to break into Europe going forward, and manager Ralph Hasenhuttl will be backed to land some bargain deals.
Aribo will not cost them an arm and a leg, and they will be able to hand him a juicy personal deal than what the Light Blues can afford.
It remains to be seen whether they want him in January, but Rangers could be left with no choice than to cash in on him at the end of the season.
He will not be short of suitors by then, and selling him when he has just 12 months left on his deal would be best for the Premiership giants.
They definitely cannot afford to lose him for nothing, and getting him to sign an extension could prove difficult as the former Charlton Athletic star is aware of interests from the bigwigs down south.
