Crotone of Italy striker, Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo (Simy) has declared that he is eagerly looking forward to helping his team seal a pleasant end to the season by gaining promotion to the top-flight Italian Serie A, megasportsarena.com reports.
After notching another goal in action for his club last weekend, the former Super Eagles’ striker, who had cameo appearances for Nigferia at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, stressed that his target is to help Crotone back into the top division.
He first made his mark in Italy starring for Crotone in the Serie A, with a rain of goals that fetched him an invitation to the Eagles, such that the former Portugal-based tall attacker amidst he will need another rush of form in the upper echelon to seal a spot back in the national team.
With that in mind, ‘Simy’ said he is happy to see his side fully focused on gaining promotion back to the Serie A after returning to winning ways at the weekend, and the 27-year-old striker, who has scored 10 goals and added 3 assists in 22 league games this campaign, believes they can achieve their targets for the season.
The former Portimonense of Portugal striker, who has been capped four times by Nigeria, was the hero for his side on Saturday, as be popped up with the match winner that ended Crotone’s two-game losing streak and moved them back to second position on the log.
The lanky attacker, who looks set to surpass the 14 goals he scored last season with Crotone, described the win as a morale booster and, though he admitted it has been a tough season for him and the club, ‘Simy’ enthused that they are all working to end their two-year stay in Serie B.
‘Smy’ told AOIFootball.com: “It’s been a good season with some ups and downs, but we are looking forward to a better finish.”
